great project again mark....you must nearly ave all the escorts over there now????
you should get them lads to knock out some full floor pans, full length strut tops and start selling them at a price for the average punter....expressed panels are very expensive....in other words to expensive for the average joe ....
also send over 2 of them split winodw vw's to me with my escort panels please.....them guys defo know what they are doing.....keep them pics coming
did you sell your mk2 yet???
This garage has a queue for months and are short on staff at the moment, so i am not sure they will be able mass produce panels at the mo... Also postage to consider. But it is a good idea.
The yellow Mk2 in the UK has gone to my brother
BTW the Split screen VW's are expensive over here (£12k +++)
Hopefully some movement with the car next week.
Still not much happening...
Front struts are now ready... Bilstein shocks from a Subaru and brakes from a Nissan Cefiro.
New shorter rear shocks sourced and ready to go on.
Hopefully work will begin again soon...
Just caught up with this one Mark, looking smart already!
Love the shop too, some good work goin on in there . You decided on a colour yet or is she staying yelo??
I am not sure about the colour yet mate... Don't think it will be yelo tho. Temped to go with Silver... But that's a long way off yet!!
A wee bit of progress...
Rear shocks fitted into place and wheels trial fitted... Axle looks central and everything seems to working as it should. It's looking like it will be low
Front suspension refitted for the time being, to make sure the back wheels and front wheels are in line. The brakes look bigger now the struts are on the car.

1984 Sierra XR4i
And other junk I don't like to talk about!
What's cooking in the kitchen?
Bit more work been done.
Chassis notched.
Diff tunnel in and boot floor raised awee bit as the diff is quite big.
Should be able to go nice and low now
Wings off
Seat Bars in
Slow going at the moment...
Looking Good ,
You had the seat bars made ?
Yeah, just some they knocked up for me, a piece of metal pipe and some flat bar, that's all... Not as good as the real deal, but they will be ok.
Engine found amongst this lot...
Nissan SR20DET S14, it has a Nismo paddle clutch, 550cc injectors and a modified ECU from Japan.
A few bits i got with it
The radiator is from a 200SX but it is too big... Unsure yet, if i can get it modified or not...
Work has resumed on the shell
Cracking work there!
Can't wait to see this one finished! Great work so far
[QUOTE=M11rf;1914856]Engine found amongst this lot...
thats what you a engine room lol
sideways is the best way to turn a corner
A few pics...
New rad and intercooler just in from the factory...
Engine going it...
It's a tall one.
Front panel cut out and it looks like i can get the rad, intercooler and condenser for the air in the front!!
Bad news is i noticed the 4 link boxes they have welded in are too low (lower than the chassis)... Partly my fault as i went and ok'd it before they fully welded them in... Good news is, he is gunna cut them back out and position them higher.
love the panel work and the way they do it old skool, good luck with the car
Cheers
Few more pics...
Radiator fitted in
Top hose from the engine and rad almost touch
Might need to modify this
G/Box tunnel and a space 2" into the car for the exhaust going in... The exhasut on the engine is very large, I don't want it catching the floor all the time.
Sr20det nice choice should make it fun. I enjoy the different approach they take to there work
cracking tunnel job
Looks like its all falling into place
... Next thing is Colour ... Or have you picked already
The blue bomber? The white bomber? The silver bomber?
What do you reckon :-D
The Gulf bomber
Just typed mk1 Escort Gulf - in to Google images
your mk1 came up on page 5 - 6 ...
Always loved the Blue and Orange since seeing the GT in the 80s

looks great mark....the fab work on the tunnels is neat.....so how many escorts were ther there and how many do you own????? keep them pics coming
Cheers for the nice comments
They mainly use gas to weld with and sometimes a little bit of electric.
I have 4 Escorts at the moment... The other 3 are parked up, not really drivable...
Chassis to body strengtheners welded in and holes filled.
Prop all ready for action
New bottom ball joints fitted
Anti roll bar chopped back 15mm
4 link boxes highered
Great fab work keep them pics coming
great work mate as usual. How you do the sway bar/arb? it looks really good. Thanks
I took it to the engineering shop near me and let them do it on the machine. You can do it with a grinder and a file/sandpaper, but it would take a long time
4 link boxes sorted
getting all the old paint off ready for fresh stuff
front panel 'holed'
Getting there... Need to choose a colour next...
I see the ARB, Crossmember, TCA's etc are in Murf's traditional blue just like the orange bomber
This is looking like one special escort
RWD Escorts - Making the competition look like c**ts since 1968!
You canny beat a bit of blue. The yellow bomber in the UK also got a touch of blue too...
I'm still debating over the actual colour of the car, i wish it was as easy as deciding the colour of the cross member...
i sure whatever colour you choose it will not match that foul blue all the running gear is painted in
good work though fella, those little people do a bloody nice job, i see why you use them
its not dead till it's buried!
