looks awesome mate, well done, will be keeping an eye on this
Dane that looks really nice mate, very impressed
Are those rear arches Ralloy "Monte" arches or something different?
Tom (Fostek)
Yes I can make you a casing any width you like, but before you go down that route - you need to decide if you want the car to look right or handle properly? Adding 6" to the rear track will make the rear MUCH wider than the front - which might not be ideal! Would make more sense to fit some smaller arches :P
little bit more progress this weekend ive managed to mount the dry sump tank and fabricate the bracket along with wrapping my exhaust manifold and also searching my local scrap yard for two corsa c power steering units for me and rob to give to matt to convert when hes ready also found a cheap and realiable single wiper motor to do away with the old motor and linkages as the old units are quite heavy and unreliable so i modded the bracket to fit. me and rob managed to find one in the end im over the moon with it it works great and we modded it to fit from original mounting points on the shell and also attacked it with the holesaw to make it even lighter.
looking good
sideways is the best way to turn a corner
Looks great mate.
I love the engine inspection goggles
Great work Dane mate
Wrap looks super neat. That wiper looks really cool and light, what's it's power like? Does it mount on the existing twin wiper frame mounts?
Dry sump tank top strap is nice as well, have you lined it under the strap to stop it rubbing, I've got some material you can have that i use on mine if you like, its very durable.
cheers mate
ive just fabricated the strap and that pic was just a mock up it just needs painting now and a hard wearing lining for inbetween the strap and tank to stop rubbing against the ali tank.
the wiper motor is mint has 2 speeds slow and fast and also has park. only thing we did was make 2 little brackets that mount from the heater duct and the side off the heater bubble from original mounting points looks neat and is well out of the way. also i couldnt help my self but attacking the bracket with the holesaw as it was a solid bracket. need to keep the weight down
also only cost me a tenner! happy days
Hi Bud new to Turbosport.Car is looking good , I do like a nice mk 2. who built engine for you? Is it a John Read? what power you expecting.
Thats going to sound awsome.
Hi,just seen this thread for the first time, great work and attention to detail, what is the that wiper motor out off?
Another thread t keep an eye on.
Can't believe how many amazing Escorts are being built at the moment.....................WOW !
stunning build, propper
That looks amazing. Eye bursting shade of red, love it.
Matt
The car is a real credit to you, the finish is excellent.
I manged to chip the paint off my chassis mount brackets as well. And my compression strut brackets. And my battery tray.
Think I'll be using a lot of that heat reflective material, I managed to get some over spray on the inner wings that could do with covering up!
thanks mate
luckally my old fellers a painter ive knocked and banged a few minor areas and also my dad lowered the car on the ramp and tweaked the front spoiler on henry the hoover so when its all nearly finished he can do some touching up he he. the car was rolling but i had a brain wave at weekend after seeing my mates new shiny anodised hubs and decided to strip all the running gear off and box up all the hubs and anti roll bar etc all ready for anodiseing and plating just need to find a anodising and replating place around the yorkshire area then let the fun begin
well done that looks stunning . only just found this thread
Excellent work.
Sweet ! Will it be used in anger ? Or just a road car ?
it will be used in tarmac rallying mate when i eventually get it finished big save now for the elite sequential gearbox wish me luck
how you doing mate ? its time no see it rolling out for a stage
sideways is the best way to turn a corner
i wish it was ready for the stages mate.but its still a long way off.ive pulled the car back in bits for some anodising and plating and also done a few more mods on the rear suspension for more travel ie. raised the rear turrets 50mm/cut the rear chassis out to allow axle to go further up/raise diff cut out even higher and also putting 2 extra bars in the front a pillers of the cage for the new regulations from custom cages. doesnt rele apply to me as i dont have a s bend in my front legs but im pretty sure it will apply to every body in the near future
and it looks the dogs danglies all the irish seem to be doing it also
Any particular reason you are going for the elite? I only ask because my mum codrives in a Darrian with an XE and almost every non finish they have isvrelated to the box! I have co driven on 2 events in an escort with an XE and an Eliteband the first time the gear stick fell off and the second time (having travelled all the way to Jersey!) it blew up! They seem to be fast but fragile.
Thanks for Your feedback regarding the elite boxes. The reason I have decided on an elite is my mate ran one in his escort he did have some minor teething problems but it was a fast shift gearbox which I rele liked and his was an il300 not il200. I have spoken to elite resently and they have just brought out the new 2012 il300 with strengthened gears/new casing design/ longer main shaft to take a shorter prop and a newly designed flatshifter. I've heard a lot of negative comments regarding the quaife g60 and Ive heard of all the bad comments on people's experiances with customer support regarding wanting bits and advise. I would love a tractive box but I'm afraid I'm on a budget carnt afford one unless I found one for £5000 lol which won't happen
That makes sense, sounds like they are making the required improvements. Their service seems good, when the darrian box is sent to them they seem to get it rebuilt and back in no time.
Good luck with it, looks like it will be a cracker when it's finished.
Matt
Just looked at your oil plumbing Dane and wondered where you have put your oil filter? I'm thinking of moving my tank into the engine bay as well.
Oh and watch this to see how the new elite box performs
