Needing some advice on my YB install in MK2 escort

    All,

Not been on here in quite some time due largely to inactivity with the install. However things have got going again, engine is in and we are looking to get it running.

One of the things holding me up just now is the oil feed to the guage and also to oil switch as wanting to run a light aswell. The parts that came out the block looked like conventional household brass plumbing fittings so not keen to use them!

Burton sell a tee piece which goes into the block via male 1/4npt thread. It has 2 X female ports on it. One 1/4npt for oil switch. The other is a 1/8npt port. I can't for the life of me get a fitting to go from this spare port to the standard RS2000 oil hose which then goes to the dash. Burton sell a 1/8npt to 1/8bsp male to male adaptor which connects a hose they sell however I don't know what the fitting it is at the dash side to know what I need to connect the hose to this end.

Any suggestions or things I should be looking at? How have other people done this?

    Thanks and regards
    Neil

I have the same on my Pinto, RS cluster and oilpressure light. I got all the parts I needed from a company that makes hydraulic hoses for cranes etc. Try looking in with them.

You need a different oil light switch to screw into the fine threaded side of the adaptor that goes into the engine block, it's the same size as X flow oil light switch. Your existing RS oil light union that fits into the block should then screw into the end of your Burton adaptor and use your std RS plastic oil pipe to your clocks. I did one last week so it's fresh in my mind.

Std X Flow type oil switch is 1/8 NPT, Burton part no, XOPS5 and they are under a Tenner. There are also High pressure ones out there which is what I used.

Matt Lewis Racing in Surrey does an oil pipe kit with the correct unions on that will connect to your T piece and have the course thread union for the back of your RS dash. Part no MLR HY5UM

Thanks very much for the replies guys, much appreciated.

I actually stumbled across the MLR one the other night and thought that was just the ticket. Coupled with the burton tee piece I have everything I need.
I did try and contact MLR to have a chat to confirm everything but couldn't get a hold of anyone. Good to know first hand from someone it woild do the business.
Alternatively as suggested I could use the 1/8npt to 1/8bsp male male adaptor if that will connect to my standard RS oil hose. Might just do this.
