Mk1 Escort tank sender wiring.

I have a 1970 MK1. The fuel gauge doesn’t work. I have found the problem, there is no wire on the tank sender unit.
i can’t find the wire. Which route does the wiring take after the sender unit?
Does it go down the right side of the car or come back across the boot and then down the left side of the car in the main loom.
The car is a 1300 Super. LHDif that makes any difference.
Any help much appreciated.

My 74 mk1 the wire goes from the sender across rear panel with lighting wires and into loom (all along passenger side of car)

Just had a look and it is a blue/black wire with a push on connector (female to push onto thread)
