Good work mate keep going at it
Been making the crossmembers for the sump guard using the drawings out of the works preparation manual
Yes tidy car mate .
The only way is sideways
Nice welding on that !
Hexham and District Motorclub
Thanks guys
Finished centre mount for sumpguard will add angle supports when I trial fit to car
Nice work!
Made a little bracket for the filter king the one supplied didn't look man enough!
Made the front brackets for the sump guard came out quite well,
Got my new radiator back today, it's got uprated cores and a hand made top tank-very pleased and historic legal
Fitted rad with stainless cap heads, mounted fan with new plastic ties, fitted new hoses and thermostat
Got seat tubes welded in on passenger side
Made sumpguard brackets off a template off a friends new group 4 guard
My old 309 on my first road rally as a driver
Looks like this is going to be a really tidy car, great work
Made a bracket for the ap handbrake cylinder, had to check because the inlets are different to girling cylinders!
Good stuff ☺️
Fully assembled pedal box have used gen girling cylinders and fitted the dash adjuster, I am using banjos for the feeds to the front and rear. The front goes to a bulkhead mounted tee piece then through the bulkhead and down the spring pan rails.
Mounted the bottles on a alloy bracket I machined, have space for an extra cylinder if I go hydraulic clutch
Got a pair of 2.8i rear brakes cheap so
Stripped them and shot blasted them. Going fit new cylinders as they are only 7.50 each
Made a clutch cable bracket as I'm running a crossflow with an rs type alloy bellhousing. I'm using a long rs2000 clutch cable that came ready with heat shield from rally and competition equipment.
Tried the clutch and feels ok if a bit stiff
Fitted handbrake bracket and modded handbrake lever
I stripped the second hand ap master cylinder I had got cheap took it into work and cleaned it in the ultrasonic bath, came up well. I then fitted the seal kit i got from tweeks for 8 quid and mounted the cylinder. Fitted it to the bracket and attached the brake pipe with new copper washers.
Your handbrake looks like it's plumbed in the wrong way round!.
ap work the opposite way to girling with a m12 inlet at the front and a m10 outlet at the rear
Nice work mate, the mounted bottles look bang tidy. Did you make your pedal box yourself?
No think its a rix engineering item I got second hand locally
Removed the fuse box and fitted a new blade type fuse box mounted underneath where the old one was so didn't have to lengthen any wires. Made a stainless cover for the hole.
Repaired near side rear wheel arch today, started off with this
Ended up with this
Repaired off side wheel arch and inner arch and closing plate
Fantastic build, good work!
Love all the little home made touches, it's going to be an excellent car
Thanks mate, finished the outer and inner wheel arch now and a small repair to the tank well.
Going to attack the lower rear panel now
Drilled all the spot welds out and removed the old back panel it wasn't that rusty but was bent to buggery!
keep up the good work
Cheers mate, rear panel is now on fully welded
My old bug on the tour of cheshire 2011
Nice thread mate.
4 doors will be seen more and more in competition as the 2 doors thin out.

Great thread, your car seems to be having all the same repairs as mine needs, it's nice to see all the photos of the welding to make sure I'm doing it right.
thanks luke,im toying with the idea of going xe like yours will do a few road rallies see how the 1700 crossflow goes
The xe has been great, I think you would struggle to get the same sort of power out of another motor for the same cost of the xe convertion, and if it goes bang it's just a case of replacing it with another pretty cheap standard motor.
Ground all the welds down on the back panel, going to get a thin skim of filler before some etch primer
After a lay off to fit a new kitchen back on the escort
Fitted spring hanger skid
