    hi all wonder if any one had come across this

    started car for the first time sunday night first turn she fired up great but after 5 mins of ticking and the exhaust maniford got so hot it set fire to the 600 deg c heat mat around the inner wing luck i was close by i know the maniford is only about 10 to 12 mm away
    should i rap the maniford to be on the save sid e ok the carbs may be running weak but can not even run it to set it up lol lol

    its a tony law maniford is it ok to rap the maniford apart for saving my car for burning many thanks dean

    by wrapping the manifold it will reduce the temp in the engine bay but will manifold will get hotter and probably have problems later with cracking, sort out the fuelling and timing it it will reduce the hot running, i run a big stainless simpson manifold and have no problems without the wrapping

    Deffo down to the mixture! It shouldnt be getting that hot quite so quickly!!

    Incorrect cam/ignition timing and/or weak mixture will cause the manifold to get excessively hot.
