Ah right... makes sense. will just stick with both being routed to catch tank for now.
My crank case breather pipe is real messy inside prob best being routed to a tank, its just full of mayonnaisey crap, wouldn't really want that ending up on the tappets!!

Forget that, get it cleaned out! It's no good having partially blocked breathers!!!

Re: Pinto breathing and catch tank set up

im just about to start on my breather set up, i was going to run a line from the crank case to the side of the rocker cover, then use a take off on my filler cap straight to the catch tank. This was i should need to weld a defletor plate as the oil filler cap is at the highest point causing least risk of oil running straight to the catch tank. Sound about right? or am i in dream world?

Should be fine as long as your breather in the cap is big enough! Dont forget, it's breathing for the crankcase aswell!

Hello Jason, scraper received today. It's a very neat and carefuly worked oil scraper, and I'm very happy with the pruchase I've made. Also it's very nice and easy to deal with you.

    Cheers,

    Eduardo

Re: Pinto breathing and catch tank set up

    Re post:

This is the first one I designed and made, now have the hole positions perfected, minimal if any filing to fit, will suit any rods with std 2.0 crank

High quality item with two proper location points unlike all other scrapers

Price for the scraper is £30 + £8 registered postage to UK and rest of world, sent with a piece of wood on one side to keep the plate nice and straight

Have about 10 in stock at the moment if interested send me a pm with your address and I will send you my paypal email

The scraper is fitted with RTV sealant on both sides of the scraper and a normal cork gasket on the other side, both sides will be level when fully tightened

Fit the sump tighten the bolts, let the RTV sealant set over night, then fully tighten, will give a perfect seal

The half round rubber sump seals need to be modified slightly on the scraper side, simple cut 1mm off the bottom with a razor blade so that the seal sits on top of the scraper

    Bulk discounts available

I should also add we would expect a solid 2 to 3% increase in power using this vs std wet sump and no scraper, plus reduced air in oil and reduced oil out the breathers, it all helps

    Regards
    Jason

Re: Pinto breathing and catch tank set up

Hello, no the scraper does not require any gasket on the scraper side, you use a good quality RTV sealant each side of the scraper it seals 100%, then you use a normal cork gasket on the opposite side of the engine, instructions included with the item, sump hole positions now perfected, for sale here

    Hi Jason,

We haven't had a chance to use the scraper yet, but we will do in the next a couple of months so I'll let you know my feedback!

Pinto breathing and catch tank set up

It's one of those things that isn't going to set the world alight, but can only be better then not having it, and for the money that Jason is charging, you can't go wrong IMO

Hi, Just seen this old thread, when you run breather from the crankcase do you keep the pcv (valve) on the crankcase outlet? or do you remove it. Thanks.

you must remove it, either by using an elbow in teh link above, or just cut the very bottom of the pcv valve off so the guts fall out

    Hello.
Jason is not active in the forum much lately. I may have a spare one which I might be able to get a laser cut copy. However I am off to Nec show and can check within next week.

Shame Jason isn't around much these days as his work was top notch.

I have one of his scrapers in both my pinto and cossie bottom ends.

The only other contact I have for him is rwdfords@eircom.net

    Good luck.

    Shaun.

Just bringing this back to the light of day
Did anyone manage to contact Jason?
Did the Harris boys start using the scraper? I wonder if they started to sell/use them in their builds?
Might be dropping the sump off of my Pinto so thinking I could do this at the same time?
    Cheers
