i cant find anything local for less than 100, also dont forget the stick and slave.
oh jeeezz.. what have I started......
i was fine on road tyres as soon as i went to the stickier road tyres like you said bits everywhere, i needed an atlas and the cost was a hard bullet to bite though but it has to be done at some point even more so with the new engine. Now it's the type 9 that's the weak link! it's never ending!
I used to have an English axle on my RS with a 4:1 Lsd, it was fine on track days & road rallies - no issues. BUT when I started stage rallying with 'full commitment' & sticky tyres I was regularly breaking shafts with a 108 BHP pinto. I now have a fully floating Atlas - no broken shafts or chewed up diffs.
When I changed to 160 BHP Pinto I started breaking the Quaife straight cut type 9 (synchro rings mainly). I now have over 180 bhp & Quaife 26z 5 speed sequential dog box. its been the most reliable box for me so far but I still managed to break a tooth off a gear & snap the main shaft!
looked into this and they turbo them up to 400bhp with lots of torque too, also the base layout of the box is used in the is200 lexus, honda s2000 and most important of all the s13 or s14 silvia and they have no transmission problems. So i will try it for the sake of making a mating plate and spending some time on it as i already have a box and carbon fiber prop.
RWD Escorts - Making the competition look like c**ts since 1968!
a standard st170 engine will do 180bhp with bike throttle bodies and ms ecu. Will also do 250bhp with nos all on standard internals
Wow ! I thought the Retroford Zetec ones were spendy - That one knocks it out of the park!
WHY would you put FORD on a Vauxhall engine ??
Cos if it says 'FORD' on the cover everyone knows it wants to be God's own engine & not some hell hound, dodgy Vaux! LOL!
They do look nice, but why oh why would you even consider doing such a thing.
