Going Sideways is the way Forward!
Going Sideways is the way Forward!
This was my Rally car, initially I re-shelled my old yellow car into this shell with the Vaux 16v with about 240bhp, it all went crackers then when I fitted a 400bhp BMW M3 Evo engine, which, if I am honest ruined the car as it was to heavy and powerful, but here are some pics......
Vauxhall moved back 10"............
Exhaust I had made..........
Then her in action........
I have some more pics of a few of the others I had, i'll route em out in a bit.
I fear understeer...
wow...that's a tool. I did not think it was possible to fit a six in a Sunbeam, but you did it. The Vauxhall seems tiny in comparison even moved well back. I see where you get your ID SUNBMW from now.
Here is some pictures of my talbot Sunbeam TI
And i have a question.
What wheel boss fits a 1979 Talbot Sunbeam TI?
I managed to buy a second hand Momo boss through the owners club, but they are hard to get hold of.
Much easier to get and still available is the Ektor boss model 1379 to fit Talbot Samba. This will fit all Sunbeams and you can attach any Momo, Sparco or OMP wheel with that bolt pattern.
I do like the colour of your Ti, are you going to use it for the road or race/rally?....must be a very rare car in your country

Yes it is a very rare car here in Denmark. It will be used for historic rally and rally sprints.
Can you find a link for that wheel boss?
Can't seem to find anything on google.

Try these people first. They are UK importers and maybe able to send to you in Denmark. If not , Ektor are made in France and I have found a link to company there which sells them:

Let me know how you get on as I may be able to get one if your not successful.
I don't think so, the Peugeot 309 is a different part number .

Hmm okay
Just strange that the steering boss i borrowed fits like a glow then
Email has been send to trsmotorsport about that ektor steering boss now it's just a matter of waiting to see what they have to say.
But again thanks for the links.
No problem, keep us up to date with progress on your Ti
Lovely Car Mr Tee
Another Herts Man here only with a Mk2 Escort and 2 1/2 chevettes
THere is a Ti rallycar just sitting in a Pottersbar garden just rusting the owner will not part with it
not seen the ti yet,but know of the moonstone one.a nice collection in that garden
Your car is beautiful, a credit to you..................
Been meaning to do this for ages, but only just had the time to sit and trawl through the pics.
So, here is just a selection of Sunbeams that have gome through my grubby mits, and to be honest, I wish I still had them all!!!!!!!!!!!!
Firstly, the blue rally car (again, cos I can!)..............(Note the crunched in rear corner )
My all time favorite, 230bhp Lotus with new billies, LSD, all the stuff, it had had Mk1 Golf rear arches grafted on to cover the 8x16 RFX's......................
Another genuine Lotus, I liked the Silver stripe on the Moonstone car................
A TI rally car, won the 2000 Safety Devices Tarmac championship 1600 class this car.............
Another TI, a replica of a works 1600 car...........
A shell I built with proper Alloy arches, nice shell.......................
Another rally car I bought from Ireland (along with another car and masses of bits, see other pic!), proper all steel X-Flow, nice car...............
Aforementioned picture, the ferry companies charge by length, so I made a frame to sit one car on top of the other, and piled all the bits into them................
A line up I did with some cars outside the place I used to work............
Finally, a shed full of Sunbeam goodness! (Oh, and a Calibra Turbo thrown in for good measures!).............
I fear understeer...
What a nice collection....thanks for posting them.
My favorite? Well I think I have to agree with you and go for the black and silver series 1. That looks awesome with those wheels and with 230bhp under the hood , must have been an animal.
Hi Frank the rubber matting that you got at bromley. How thick was it mate got a problem with fuel cap rubber and just wondering if that's the right thickness.Tried looking on ebay they have only got big sheets that cost an arm and a leg.
P M sent mate let me know if you get it alright if you don't p m me your phone no should of got it off of you at bromley any way mate
Andy Clarkins old car, wondered what happened to that. As my mate BDA IT said earlier the front of this car was replaced after a smash with half of his mums car! I even drove that Sunbeam many many years ago.
Thats some serious rubber under the arches there... What size? And is that a MK 1 Golf GTi front spoiler?
my dads one he owned about 12 13 years ago, was a tool i remember been about 8 in the back holding onto the roll cage wilst he was doing donuts, unfortunatly he aquaplaned and it went into fencing posts and end up writing it off reg number was VVC 640V anyone know of the car now ?
Andys car isnt in bad shape all considering, Im trying to get it ready fror a race in July as we speak, its not turned a wheel in anger for a couple of years now. 15 x 9 s on the back and 15 x 8s on the front and yes a mk1 plastic splitter. I think it looks fairly period myself.
Some cracking cars there, and wish i had pictures of some of my old cars. Cracking thread and some really nice cars there as well.
If only we could go back hey chaps lol
Old skool forever
Just don`t tell the wife
how much it really costs!
Does anyone of you guys now where i can new camshafts for the 1600 TI engine?
I got a few with the car then i bought it but only one of them was slightly bigger then the stock ones and i need a new or second hand now
Just bought this, after a few wilderness years, I am back in the Sunbeam saddle, when I drove the car home, it felt just sooooo right!
Full write up soon.............

Spent some time working on that. It got smashed a couple of times. One was at donnington on a test day and had to rebuild it in 3 days for the race, and another was at snetterton on the last lap of the last race of the season when lapping a mini in the lead. He lost the championship to Craig Davies that year. We had 1 day to repair it as it was due to appear at Snetterton on the Tuesday for a CCC track test. The paint was still wet as we were going up the A11

I'm in the proces of installing a new hydraulic handbrake because the old setup did not work at all...
I want a new Vertical handbrake but i need some ideas on how to mount it the best way possible. So i would love to see some pictures of how you guys have mounted your handbrakes.
I don't have any pictures of the vertical handbrake ,but I went yesterday to an open day of a Talbot/Chrysler rally preparation company in Wales who do a kit ( as well as loads of other rally bits) of what you want. They are very helpful and should be able to give you all the info you need....Give them a try.

I ordered some stuff from Mal yesterday, they have some very nice stuff.
Re the vertical handbrake, not to do the idea down, but when the lever is fully vertical, I find that you can't get enough pressure on, I much prefer the lever either horizontal, or if you have the room, at 45degrees. I will find some pics out of the hand brake on my M3, it was from a Misubishi WRC car, and was the best thing I ever had., and that was at 45degrees.

What a disappointing day.
Had my Sunbeam TI on the dyno today and it only made 106 BHP
