Couple of pic's from lotus festival at brands.
i paid £65 quid for one of these i 1998, it had a gear box issue selecting 1st and 2nd which made it difficult to drive so i parked it up in my mums back car park as i was planning on getting a new box but it sat for too long and ended up being uplifted by the council
Like the orignal spots!
Going Sideways is the way Forward!
I use to own DAC66Y dont know what happend to it was told it was the last one made!
looks like a really nice car.
Hi spanner monkey slowly restoring DAC 28Y the owner who I bought from said you might have a engine and box avalible ? Many thanks steve
I don't have an engine or box but I am sure you will find an engine easier to get than the gearbox. An alternative to the ZF is the Toyota box that was fitted in the Lotus Excel but this will require a bit of modification as it has a hydraulic operated clutch instead of a cable that the ZF uses. I do know someone that has such a gearbox fitted in a Sunbeam and he reports the gear shift is much nicer than the original . Of course you will need to think about if you are going to keep it as per it left the factory or you just want to get it on the road , but if you can find an original ZF it will be at least £1500 plus. Oh and be careful not to get a Maserati one as they look similar but have different ratio's. The Owners Club will help with advice on this if you need it.
Looking forward to seeing another DAC car back on the road.
nice cars boys
The only way is sideways
Hi wishing one day mine gets near the standard of yours just bought a DAC to restore so would be great to have your number? As looks like you have a lot of knowledge cheers steve
Hi Steve....you do know me from the SLOC....my number and email address are in the magazine. Please do contact me if you want to chat Sunbeam's
Love sunbeams, they are such god value.....compared with escorts!
Nice Cortina!!
I like that a lot...mine goes pretty well with only 150bhp on a standard engine, so that must fantastic. What spec is the engine and are you using all Ford running gear?
thanks. its around 220 bhp jem engines na cossie. its tuned to be drivable and not a race engine. its all mk2 escort running gear. escort coilovers on front, English axel linked to the original sunbeam arms.
it was featured in retro cars I think in jan 2009
I didn't build it I bought it from the guy who did who was bored of it!

cheeRS, david.
Hi just joined up to the forum,i have a sunbeam lotus its not on the road at present.
I've owned it since 1991 and had it a light restoration about 8 years ago.
Its had some light mods like LSD Skip Brown Bilstein suspension a K&N and a uprated exhaust.
I'm not sure what the power output would be but it does go quite well.
I can post a link to it but its on another forum.
I`m a member of the ASOC and have been for many years.
I joined this site as their seems to be alot of love for sunbeam`s as a few people on here have got fond memories of them .
Lets face it anything thats old and RWD is ace in my book.
Come on then,....lets have some pictures?
I can post a link if that's allowed as its on another forum.
