    Atlas axle diff bearing caps

Went to put my diff back in my atlas last night and was wondering which way the diff bearing caps are supposed to be as they are numbered 1 and 2. Am I right in thinking that the cap has a chamfered edge on one side and this should point to the wheel. And that 1 should be on the left and 2 on the right as you look from the back. As Im pretty sure they were upside down when i pulled them off with the numbers facing down. Any help would be great.
    Thanks

Chamfers point towards the wheels, yes.

But 2 goes on the left, 1 goes on the right, with the numbers at the top, upside down!

    It does look odd...

Imagine you built the axle on a production line with the axle itself upside down... It'd make sense.
