2.3 Mps turbo into Mk1 Escort?

Does anyone know if you can fit the 2.3 mazda mps turbo engine into a mk1 escort? It's a duratec and I believe the sump will need changed and it can bolt onto a mx5 gearbox or get a bellhousing and use a Ford box. Are there any more issues and changes to make to get it up and running and can it fit with a front mounted intercooler and pipes? Seems to be a cost effective way in getting 250bhp. Thanks

It will fit with some custom work. Yes it does bolt up to a mx5 gearbox as its effectively a duratec. As its a direct injection engine it has a high pressure fuel pump at the back of the block so you would have to sit it pretty far forward or cut out the firewall for it to fit. You would also need a custom turbo manifold as the turbo will be backwards when you turn the motor north/south. Intake manifold will be backwards as well. And like you said, a new sump.

I have trawled the web for 2.3 EcoBoost/maps mk2 builds. I appears there is only one built so far in Australia so it's possible. The guy has used an EcoBoost from a mustang bolts to a 69G sequential box so money's no object.lol

I'm in the same boat, have a mk2, RS ecoboost engine and plan to use a nc mx5 box(if its capable of 350/400). Unfortunately it's well done the line of priority
