6 dial dash pod rebuild...connector questions

    Hi All,

This question stems from restoring a VERY poor condition 6 dial pod.

There are several connections at the rear to the gauges that are "push on" type these push onto the threads protruding from the back of the dial(s).

Can anyone tell me what this style of connector is called? I ask as mine are either completely missing or so degraded and crumbling they are no use.

Ask me for a edge mount PCB to flex or cable connector and i can sort it...but these are old school and i want something similar as i dont want to modify the gauges.

    Cheers.

I'm guessing its some sort of female bullet connector but as Ford like to create non standard fixtures and fittings, locating new will be virtually impossible. If the thread is an actual thread, could you swap to a ring terminal clamped with an additional nut - sort of like how the gauges were connected to the instrument foils on the mk2 clusters?

Yeah... Or a plug lead. It presses on over M4ish (or the imperial equivalent) threads. There is about 6 on my dash.

You could use a faston eye crimp connector and use a nut (or 2) to bolt it to the studs/threads.

Or use a faston female bullet crimp connector and push that on.

    https://www.wiringproducts.com/right...connector.html

Not exactly the same I know, but it's pretty close. I can only find the US site as a supplier though aswell. Also not sure what a #8 stud is, couldn't see it being 8mm.

Possibly #8 relates to a #8/36 UNF thread which is 4.16mm
