MK1 Escort bulbs .....dont laugh @ my incompetence ;o)

Hi All.....
as daft as it may sound and despite looking @ Haynes manual im having a wee bit of bother changing rear indicator bulb on my MK1 ....its fuel tank side and there doesnt seem to be room for me to manoeuvre a bulb out , any advice please?

Don't know about MK1, but does'nt you take the glass off like the MK 2?

No.

But if you can't get the bulb holder out then it's only 2 nuts to remove the whole light unit so you can get at the bulb holder.
