Strange question but does anyone know the weight of a MK2 Escort Heater assembly? Wondering whether to go to all the trouble of removing it in my hillclimb car? It's not connected anyway, but I gather it's a pain to remove?

Maybe a kilo or two? Can't be that difficult to remove, especially if no water involved - a few bolts and cable clamps? Access on the other hand
Sure I’ve weighed one years ago at least 5 kg drained 🤔

Definitely worth taking out

Thanks all, I'll be having a go at getting it out then! Wish me luck
easy to get out , 4 bolts from memory and cable control. but you have to work upside down i think so a pain, its a few kg yes and early ones are steel if not all .
What are you going to do if it’s a wet day?
I know you are joking but it is serious point. On another forum i have been following a build of a lotus elan the builder takes weight to the extreme to the point of lathing down bolts and stuff. Drilling holes all over etc he's looking at grammes.
Hopefully he already has those installed and it is a win.
eBay guy just weighed mk2 Heater box 8kg

Just got mine out, what a struggle! It's a later plastic one & excluding cables etc. it weighs 3.4KG.
Maybe the rs2000 one I weighed years ago is different
Was defiantly nearer 8-10 kg

They changed from steel to plastchousing in 77 or so, when hot and cold swapped side on the lever on the dashboard.
