Hey everyone (again)!
I have 2 engines for my race Escort 1600 xflow built the same way.
- Almost flat top pistons with flat head, 10.8 CR, a pretty heavily ported head with 41/35 valves, original con rods on arp bolts, and 1300 flywheel.
- Electronic ignition and twin 40 dcoes on 32 chokes
The first engine has a pretty decent iskenderian cam (290 deg advertised duration on a 108 lobe center by catalog, and from my measures a little less than 2mm lift @tdc and a little less than 9mm at full lift) . Despite all my current issues (on another thread) that engine used to have between 126 and 130 hp at the flywheel. Perfect.
Second engine has a completely unknown local grinder cam that was all that I had at the moment I built it and this one is the one I want to fit with a well known camshaft to avoid any guesswork
I wanted a kent 244 but I can't find a used one and shouldn't spend the amount of money a new kit costs (remember for me in Uruguay is Burton price + postage + 60% of the total value in taxes).
So I bought this used BCF3 ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ford-xflo...m/274512916035 )
2 questions here:
- Do you think it is possible to beat the power figures of my first engine? is it even possible to get 130ish at the flywheel with that BCF3 cam and my specs?
- Regarding the kent 244, their catalog says " 115bhp with GT Carb 145bhp with 2 x 40’s", is that possible? Which CR is everyone using with their 244s?
I think this is an interesting discussion
Thank you all and have a great day
