    Re: Rwd zetec exhaust.

    hi Alladdin,
been on the phone to simson race exhausts, they can make me a bespoke manifold and 2 box system for 1500+vat, i can get a escort mk2 simson manifold for 750 , but not 100% if it will fit in my RWD mk6 fiesta, unless i can find some one willing to lend me one just to try fitment,,

    any offers,

    mike

I have used JP Exhausts, Macclesfield which have now relocated to Congleton and their workmanship is of a very high standard.

The easiest way's to take the car to them to have the manifold and system hand fitted.

piper do ones ( were 105 speed ) for both escort and anglia which are 4-1 and more compact i think. i guess you know tho.

Personally I wouldn't buy a Piper manifold purely for what they did to 105 Speed - yes they built the manifolds for 105 but in short runs to suit 105's ordering profile ie. 2's or 3's at a time then they bumped it up to 10 minimum so pretty much stuffing 105 up! Bet they never paid for the copyright either! Shitty way to do business IMO!

i agree it sounded like a shitty stick at the time. ( although 10 sounds reasonable to me if thats what killed it)

I trimmed the corner of the battery tray as it only had 2mm clearance, Simpson manifold is also 4-2-1 not 4-1

Big is beautiful but not always the best for performance, I found that out the expensive way 30 years ago with a NA Cosworth engine.

the ashley (mild steel) is not a great fit either from my own experiance although to be fair every install differs a bit.

Beuty of the Simpson is with the joints you can trim them down to make it all tighter to the car without making a mess of the nice fabrication

The other advantage of the Simpson is you can have it built to a spec to suit your engine if required

You're right there. I have an Ashley on my ST170 with an RX8 6 speed, and I'm going to have to cut and shut it to make it fit. It's currently hard up against the bellhousing/engine join
