Duratec Oil for boot mounted Dry Sump

I'm fitting a Duratec to replace the N/A cossie, keeping the existing Dry Sump system and the tank in the boot

I've used Valvoline VR1 20w50 for many years, but I assume I should be using a more modern oil for the Duratec
    Any suggestions / experiences?

I remember being told many years ago that a fully synthetic oil would cause problems with a boot mounted tank as the pump would have difficulty sucking it through to the engine
But I'm not sure if this is an issue

    Thanks
    Gavin

i cant see any reason why a synthetic oil should be any different to a mineral, or a semi synthetic.

a thinner oil should be easier for the pump to suck through anyway

I have just got some oil for my duratec from my mates car parts shop and it is specific for a duratec and zetec. Not sure why but there must be some magic in it !!!

lots of oils are engine specfic, but often thats down to exhaust emissions, believe it or not you can find the same engine in a Peugeot and ford but using different oils!

It often has to do with the exhaust after treatment. Ford uses one DPF ore cat, and Peugeot uses another one.
