Capri/Escort strut help
Not up to much theses days, covid seems to have sorted that, But, Im still thinking projects thru, Im sure somebody on here will know, Im making for a friend a pair of A arms to fit a trackday car, the choice has been made to use A arms to hold the strut in place, this will give him a better way to mount the ARB of his choice where it suits him, So.......... my question is does anybody know of a bolt on type of ball joint that has the same taper as the capri/escort TCA, I think Austin Ambassador do fit the strut, but are push fit into a hole, I have seen these come adrift before. so, do I have any other potions???

Re: Capri/Escort strut help
If you're making the arms, can you make them with a rose joint then use tapered pins for the ball joint?
As used in the TCA's here http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthre...=694919&page=2

Re: Capri/Escort strut help
Many years ago on the twin turbo MkI Capri we built, we used some Opel Astra ball joints for the A-arms we built. ISTR that they should be a match according to catalogues but I also have a memory of them not matching the taper 100%.
My notes not say the Capri/Escort has a 1/8 taper and a cone diameter of 13,2 mm, Astra is 13,4 (top of taper) but the taper is listed at 1/6 by the Sidem catalogue. There are many joints with 1/8 taper but most are thicker. Not sure if drilling out the top to 14-15 mm is feasible, but that would open up a number of options.
