    Borg Warner axle rescue

New on here and newish to escorts.....my SA import Mk2 escort came with a Borg Warner axle which developed a fair bit of play and ominous clunk.I had been collecting enough bits to rebuild an English axle as I mistakenly thought I had a Koln axle which is generally regarded as a bit weak.
Having had the english axle rebuilt ( a mans got to know his limitations) I decided to learn a bit about the old BW axle by taking it apart and see what was broken inside. The answer was nothing broken but some wear and play in the cross pin and spider gears.I think the axle case is quite strong as the tubing feels thicker than the english one.The cwp was OK with no chipped or broken teeth. The side bearings are Timken so should be sourceable. The half shafts have 23 splines cf the normal 22 so not interchangeable.
The diff spider set I can only find new from Australia.Quaife make a Borg Warner ATB lsd but at a cost of around £1000....think it is for an OZ Birkin Lotus 7 type sports car.
Has anyone rebuilt a BW axle?
Does anyone know of a source of the diff spider sets?
Am I wasting my time.....dont really want to bin it?

Spares not likely to be common in the UK or from the continent as not fitted here! You have to look to Africa, Australia and maybe South America and Asia - anywhere where they tend to have tracks rather than roads! They probably get junked because, no matter how tough they are, without easily available spares they are scrap iron!

I was told buy a guy I met last year that an Alfa Romeo LSD fits the Borg Warner axle, but that was as much info as he gave me.

So I don't know what Model Alfa it is, which I know is not very helpful.
