A friend uses 205/60 Nankang Econex NA-1 on his Mk2 for Targa Rallies where Competition tyres are not allowed
    He does well on them

    Re: tires

Hi! I noticed you mentioned Nankang. Is that tire brand worth buying compared to other brands? I've been browsing Toyo and Nitto at 4WheelOnline and then compare them to the price of Nankang tyres. I must say it's cheaper but is it good?

    Re: tires

NS-2R are probably the best all arounder for a sport car, handle well in the dry, doesn't try to kill you in the wet and last enough.

Definitely not as grippy as Ar1 or toyo r888r, but they're different categories.

    Re: tires

Don't know about now but 195/60 R13 used to be a difficult tyre size to obtain and they were a lot more expensive than 205/60 R13 or 185/60 R13 and therefore were rare to see.

As Alladdin says, they should fit as 205/60's were commonly fitted on Escorts.

Back in the day I always used Yokohama tyres on the Escort and still have a new old stock set of A539, a set of A520's and until recently a pair of A008's.

My favourite tyres of the last 20 years have been Uniroyal Rainsport 2 (cheap and brilliant in the wet), Michelin Pilot Sport (work well on the M3), and my overall favourite have been Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric.

Have no idea yet what tyres Escort is going to get but possibly none of the above will be suitable.

I was going to use the Nankang AR1's on the old Escort I have done. I phoned South Shore Tyres at the Height of the first lockdown last year, the owner Tony said he hadn't any in stock but could get some, however he had Toyo R888's on the shelf. I decided to have those just to help him move some stock which made sense. No idea yet how good they are as it's still not on the Road. They are 195/ 50 x 15.
