    Type E “Rocket” gearbox advice

Hi looking for some advice from people use to race/rally this gearboxes:

The gearbox is a Quaife Pro alloy gearbox synchromesh with race ratios the problem I’m having with the gearbox is the blocker bars keep on breaking Burton did sell a solid blocker bars but they don’t have stock for a long time. https://www.burtonpower.com/gbrk505a.html

    - someone knows where to get the blockers solid bars or have some to sell?

    - any advice in what gearbox oil to use for racing? Quaife in the website recommends the Titan Race Pro SRG Synthetic Racing Gear Oil 75W anybody has experience with this oil? https://shop.quaife.co.uk/titan-race...acing-gear-oil

what do you recommend for racing propose?

    Regards
    JC

I know nothing about these but from the Burton picture they look cast? Any reason they couldn't be machined from bar stock steel? Don't look too complicated to make? Or if they need to be 'soft' what about brass or bronze?

Yes they are cast... don’t know if they have to be hard or soft???

Did someone use the solid type? And what about the gear oil?

    regards

When we ran 4 speed gearboxes around 37 years ago we never had any trouble with problems with the blockers that you are experiencing, only the occasional baulk ring problem. They were far more reliable in that respect than the 5 speed T9.

The oil which we used was Silkolene SRG75 which is exactly the same oil as the Titan one.

I used to braze the blockers but found the steel was softened and wore away, next time re-hardened by plunging in oil which solved that.

Hi did you braze it with copper or alloy? The braze is only done in the back, filling the space the block bars have? Did you leave any “spot” for the spring to attach?
