    Help de-code a vin plate

Hi guys, I’ve recently managed to get my hands on a 1977 mk2 rs2000. I’m after some help decoding the colour of the vin.

    1977
Dvla said original colour was blue
Vin plate reads “E” for colour.

the colour doesn’t look like Nordic blue to me which from my research was 79/80, and I’m not sure if it’s riviera either. I may be wrong of the 40 year old paint maybe playing tricks.

Any help would be much appreciated.

According to the data I have "E" will be either Light Blue or Hawaian Blue Metallic.

Light Blue also known as Olympic Blue. (Mk1 colour?)
Colourcode for this is XSC886, for Hawaian is XSC1150.

Thank you - were any of them ever put on the rs2000 tho? It does look very similar to Olympic blue as that’s what my mk1 is. I’m just trying to find the original rs2000 blue it was.

    Cheers.

E is for Olympic Blue, which was on a Mk1RS.

Is there another plate on the other side of your bonnet catch?

    Type: GATR
    Version: A
    Drive: B
    Engine: NE
    Trans: B
    Colour: E

This is what I’ve got, I’m struggling to relate any of this to anything I can find online. I do agree it looks like Olympic blue which is the same as my mk1, and it does look very similar.

My 1979 Signal Yellow doesn't have a letter stamped in the colour box. It has a number instead, which is 97
Every other box is the same as yours.

Is your car a UK spec car? i.e built in Germany for sale in Britain? and what month in 1977 was it built?
