nut size Escort MK1 spring mount plates

    Hi,

I have blasted and painted my spring mount plates.
For re-assembly I want to use new self-locking screw nuts.
But it seems that they are not metric screw nuts like we use in Austria and which are easy to get.
Anyone who knows which type and size they are that I can order the correct ones online?

(its only a symbol pic - not my mount plate, because the nut looks good here. mine is pretty used up)

    thank you & best regards
    Karl

The imperial difference is 5/16 unc if you thought it was m8x1.25 or unf if it's a fine thread.
Or 3/8 unc or unf if you thought it was m10, again depends on whether its a coarse thread or fine thread.

I always thought the nuts were M12 on the bottom shocker mount, although it's about 35 years since I last used that type of mount.

I suppose they might be on a Mk2 mount, not on a Mk1 though.

Must admit I haven't used one for years either.

    Hi,

    I'm tending a bit to 1/2" UNC.
The wrench size with which I opened the "old" nut was 19mm.
I read that 1/2" UNC nuts do have a wrench size of 3/4" (which is 19mm) too.

By the way, the link to the Thread Thread is great!
I think I will use it for building up a little spare-stock of screws and nuts.

    best regards
    Karl
