I'm about to get a WCXM to fit a cosworth motor in my mk2 escort but which one do I need, the one with the lower steering rack mounts or the standard one? I also don't have the engine mounts, do I just need standard Pinto ones?

If it’s a 205 block the engine mounts will be the same as a pinto. I think the 200 block is wider in the mounts due to thicker block. Not sure on lowered rack my feeling is you don’t need it. It is purely for sump clearance. Maybe you do a measure, lowered rack also means new steering arms.

It's a 205 block, the engine and gearbox came from a 2wd sierra. I've just seen conflicting information when searching, some saying it will fit with with a bit took out the back of the crossmember, some saying you need to modify the sump and some saying they fit with no issues. I would rather get the one with the standard steering rack mounts but don't want to order one then have the hassle of swapping it for the lower one if it doesn't fit
It's not the rack mounts that will be in the way it is the rear edge of the crossmember. You may also still need to modify the sump.
And as per the engine mounts then yes as wildo105e says for a 205 block pinto mounts are the same.
If I have to modify the sump then thats what I will have to do, so I'm ok to get the crossmember with the standard rack mounts though?
when i was going to do this, i preferred having the sump big winged and baffled at the same time. That way you don't need to the cut the cross member. It is possible so i read to use the standard cossie sump and cut out the cross member and strengthen back up. I never recall anyone mentioning lowered rack though.
There are a few threads on here i tried to find a cossie build one by hoogi but can't seem to find it but have a look through the one below may help

Thats one of the threads I had a look at but you start reading through the comments and there's a few people said they've managed to fit theirs without modifying the sump. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and order a crossmember and see how it goes, I'll let you know what happens
Doug at G19 Engineering does a modification service to alter the Std YB sump for instalment in an Escort and it says even with the sump modded it may require the crossmember trimming on certain makes of WCM to allow clearance. I can also recommend his gated sump baffle the quality's and workmanship's first class.
Your other alternative's to used the RS2000 alloy sump but again I wouldn't use one of them without the gated baffle, the std RS baffle is pants as the RS sumps suffer from oil surge.

lowered rack crossmember is for a raised rally car suspension,to bring the angles back to std after installing taller springs.
world cup crossmember on a road car will rattle your teeth out and spoil the car.
sump options are modified rs2000,or modified cosworth sump, hacking lumps out of the crossmember is a dumb idea
