    ST170 flywheel

Because I want to put an ST170 engine and a T9 transmission in my MK2 Escort and I wanted to use a single-mass lighter flywheel, I found info that it fits the Zetec 1.8 and 1.6. I got a Fiesta 1.6 (FYDA) flywheel, but the diameter of the center hole is larger (34, ALDA is 31.5) and the bolt spacing also doesn't fit. Where did I make a mistake?

    Re: ST170 flywheel

i used a 2.0 mondao flywheel and had it lightened and balanced, and fit with ARP bolts.
1.8 zetec flywheel is easier , then get it redrilled for pinto pressure plate. and run pinto clutch as gearbox splines are same..

    Re: ST170 flywheel

thanks for answer. are you sure 1.8 zetec from mondeo will fit? because the one I have from 1.6 Zetec (Fiesta / FYDA) is Ford part Nr. 1111915 and it is same as for mondeo 1.8 (www.catcar.info). For Mondeo 2.0 is 1037635 (´96-´00) or 1253982 (´00-´07).

    Re: ST170 flywheel

Well I know the 1.8 flywheel works as I got mine from RetroFord, redrilled for a Pinto clutch and fitted behind a 2.0 Blacktop Zetec from a '00 Mondeo. AFAIK nothing after '00 works on these engines. Wasn't the 1.6 the Zetec SE engine - which shares nothing with the 1.8 and 2.0L engines!

So the best way is to find 1.8 Mondeo flywheel before ´00...right?

    Re: ST170 flywheel

We fitted a 1.8 Zetec flywheel redrilled for a pinto clutch on an ST170 with a Type 9 in a Sierra we did last year.

    Re: ST170 flywheel

rallyrob: do you know what year was your 1.8 Zetec or engine code? Because the flywheel I bought is 1.6 Zetec (eng. code FYDA) and it doesn´t fit. And all of other Zetec´s has part Nr. 1111915, which is the same as the one I have. Center hole for ST170 (ALDA) has to be 32mm, but this one is 34mm.

    Re: ST170 flywheel

I'm not sure off hand. I'll ask my son in law, it was his car we did. I know he bought the flywheel 2nd hand and it was
already modified and lightened so we didn't have to do anything with it, just bolt it on. Not even sure it's got any part numbers left on it
    because of the lightening.
