    Where it's at its coolest.

When we built our first NA Cosworth engine Escort Rally car we had awful trouble with it misfiring for the first mile or two after sitting on stage starts in very Hot weather. The engine was fitted with a plastic mechanical fan on the water pump and the filter king was bolted to the inner wing right inline with the hot air being moved by the fan. The hot air was hitting the filter causing the petrol in it to evaporate resulting in the carbs being short of fuel. Filter moved and the problem solved after lots of head scratching.

Inner wing under the carbs, not in the boot, as recommended to me by Wayne Mitchell.
