    Clutch release bearing - Type 3 Gearbox 4 speed / 1600 Xflow

I am totally mystified, I have searched so many part numbers and I still have no idea.

I have a Type 3 Gearbox , (alloy tailshaft, separate bellhousing). I have just removed (due to judder issues) the clutch and found that the release bearing has an internal diameter of 34mm and the input housing has an outer diameter of 30mm. To say it is loose is an understatement.

I have just purhcased an ECB114 Release Bearing which has a 30mm internal diameter but that won't go over the input housing, just too tight.

Burtons say an ECB110 but that has the 34mm and the same bearing also fits the Type 9 with the larger spline?

The ECB114 should fit. "Wiggle" the internals a bit to try and push it on.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried and it definitely won't, the only thing I could do is to file off the castellations (its a PTFE type) and then it would fit
I have also bought a new old stock original spec version of ECB114 from Belgium, that may be OK?

It may be that Burton's parts have become a pattern of a pattern of a pattern!

I have an original NOS Motorcraft ECB114 also can measure it if you want.

Thanks so much , but I have just bought one, I had to get another cover as well as the Burton one wasn't deep enough, and it came with another ECB114
So now I have 2 x covers, 2 x plates , 3 x release bearings. hopefully I will get one of each to fit

Well after further research I thought I would post so that anyone else that has the configuration of an early Capri 1600 with the TYpe 3 box
Basically the release bearing you need is a BHG4546 , this has a 31mm bore and will be a perfect fit over the input housing, the problem is that its a curved bearing and therefore you will need a flat fingered Clutch plate
Alternative is to use the ECB114 and sand the castellations off to make it from a 30 to a 31mm.
    Hopefully this will help someone
