    Weber dcoe 40 problem

I have installed a weber dcoe 40 on a vauxhall 1.0 ohv. Wich is a 5 port engine.

    Carb has :
    30mm venturis
    Main jet 120
    Air corrector 175
    Emulsion tube f11
    Idle jet 45f9
    Pump jet 60

Problem is when i drive in low rpm and push the throttle engine just dies.. i have to come down one gear to get it going. No problem in high rpms only when i drive in low rpms i cant get it to speed up. Engine just stops, no backfiring, just nothing.

    Any ideas?

if it will rev up if you open the throttle out of gear, then i would say 2x30 mm venturi on such a small engine (with a poor cylinder head design) are way too big, you just wont have enough airspeed through the carb to pull fuel from the mains. install some 28mm venturi and try again

Do all different emulsion tubes require the same float level?

Yes. There are differences in float level for different types of 40DCOE's.

Installed 28mm chokes today and car runs even worse, cant accelate at all, afr goes to lean even with only slight throttle

given the same main jet size smaller chokes make it richer. you sure its lean not rich? if you seriously overfuel you can cool off a lambda sensor to such an extent it reads lean when it is in fact very rich

    Re: Weber dcoe 40 problem

Made an improvement today with changing to smaller air corrector 175 to 150. But my afr is 12.5 at cruise in low rpm. Idle jet too big?

    Re: Weber dcoe 40 problem

if you have 12.5 then leaning out the jetting further wont make any driveability difference
