    Door seal

    Hi.
I need help or advice. I mounted new rubber seal around the door.
Now the door is very difficult to close. Is that normal?

    Thanks

    Re: Door seal

If it is a pattern seal it is more than likely - there are good seals and bad ones, the former work as original, the latter are a PITA and no amount of force or slamming results in a reliable close!
My seals are shot also but at least the door still closes - mostly!

    Re: Door seal

The problem with them is there are different thicknesses of rubber, so you have to try and get the right thickness. The result in the ones that are too thick is they put to much pressure on the door and they end up not closing properly. I even tried cutting some little vent holes in mine years ago, but that didn't work either.

The seals I have, I bought from a "https://retrocarseals.co.uk/". Obviously not the right qualities as you say. Any suggestions on where to buy softer or real qualities?
    Thanks

    Re: Door seal

If the ones you have are like the East Kent Trims ones at 25mm, then they are too thick. You need a seal about 19-20mm. Ask me how I know!.

Here's another one that claims no need to slam the door.

    Re: Door seal

    They do look good.

Though I would be inclined to email them and ask then for a measurement of the thickness of the profile just to confirm it.

Though they do say they are easy close slim fit and a new profile.

    Re: Door seal

They look thick to me, to be honest, but without a tape measure next to them it's difficult to tell.
As nice as the photo is it's not much help without the measurement as you're trying to identify a 4mm difference from a photo.

Those look good. I'll see if that what my buddy needs for his door seal. Still waiting for the car to return from the shop for the installation of the new set of tires plus suspension from 4wheelonline.

Following on from this - Just a quickie recommendation for these door seals - https://worksescortparts.co.uk/produ...more-slamming/ The original seals in my RS were hanging, split and very second hand and the drivers door in particular needed a good slam to close! Ordered these and dead quick delivery. This afternoon I thought i'd see how well they fitted and quite impressed, the corner 90 degree was well made and there was plenty of excess length for trimming, almost a metre either side. And the doors now close without undue force - hoorah! No attachment to this company just a satisfied customer.

Just a shame they don't ship to the op's country though.

Did you ever get a reply to the email? I find it a bit surprising they're not prepared to ship internationally.

Yes they answered, but the tires are very similar to my existing ones. I got one a little thinner in my country with holes that are much better than the ones I have.
Thank you all for your help
