    Cibie Super Oscar LED's

There's a guy on ebay selling these for £250/pair which is well below rrp - seems a great deal. He's got the "normal" pattern and wide-beam for the same price.

i would have thought normal practice would be to have 2x as fog lights on the bottom and the 2 on top as driving lights but cibie don't seem to differentiate between a spot lamp and a fog lamp. Is it just the direction you aim them in?

I was planning on getting 4x wide beam ones, having them on two switches. Bottom ones aimed down (and just working off the switch) and top ones taking power from main beam so if switch is on and main beam on they'll come on so i can use them as driving lights.

Is that what most people do? Or wire all 4 as driving lights?

    Cheers

wide beam are probably fog lights. cibie lenses for super oscar were fog/ driving / spot. fog are wide and spot are eerrr a spot long range.
i always prefered the driving pattern.

Is it just the lenses that are different between them?

The bottom lights were Oscars on the MK1 I had and they were fog lights. The top ones were Super Oscars which one was a spot and the other a drive light, that combination was suppose to give the best of both Worlds when competing on Night Events. It was never allowed to run all four lights all at once on Road Rallies, then for 1984 they banned anyone from having four forward facing lights fitted to their cars.

Just a FYI and doing Road rallies where cars are required to be road legal - any light mounted below 400mm from Ground level is regarded as a Fog light and 'should' be operational with Headlight Dipped beams and rear fog light and obviously in foggy / bad visibility conditions.
