    Hello, are MG owners allowed?

Hello, Can't remember how I stumbled across this forum but been been read quite a few if the Ford in general and Escort in particual threads withgreat admiration. Although a Ford man at heart I currently own a (I suppose actually 2) MG Midgets. After being off the road for 20 years I finly have the time money and inclination to get it back on the road in the near future. I've seen a couple of Midget thteads on here so hope you don't mind me gatecrashing

Nothing wrong with a bit of A series action and they have been around longer than the XF for example. A tuned engine build or info is usually of interest to most of us, so crack on and ask away! Personally, I loved my 1400 Cooper S!

Thanks. You've assumed it is an A series and not a 1500! It isn't a 1500 but a '72 1275. As far as far as Fords go, I reshelled my first Escort into a shell used in the Motoring News Championship in the early 80's driven my Mike Hutchinson with TDK sponsership. A couple of years later I bought a written off mk2 RS2 that was little more than an engine and box. I put that into another mark 2 but couldn't afford to keep it. As far as the MG is concerned, I've recently bought another shell and currently waiting for the guy to finish off the prep and spray it. Then I just plan initially to swap the bits over to get it back on the road. Then I hope to gradually do some other bits and bobs to it.

Hello. Yes, I read most of your dyno thread with interest. I did my apprenticeship at a company who made dynos - Froude Consine (originally Heenan and Froude). I've probably forgotten any information that might have been useful for you but it sounds like you've got it all sorted 🙂

LOL's I don't class them a 'correct Midget' engine - just a buy-in from Triumph! Glad you never said MG Maestro or Montego - then you would be excommunicated!

Have a soft spot for old midgets with the round wheel arch, not sure i could get in one these days, bit heavier than i used to be. Put a 1600 ford crossflow in mine back in 1982...

Hello. Thanks all. The B and Escort look good. Nive bit of brotherly rivalry goes on there I guess? My shell(s) are RWA 🙂 Hopefully get the second one home shortly and can crack on...

Hi Dave, I also worked for H&F between 68 and 71 in the then new Computer Dept. We were very close to the tunnel under the road. I haven’t been back to Worcester for years, is the factory still there ?. I also remember when the MD of Fielding and Platt used to visit and park outside the dept., he had a GT40, and, as an older gentleman, used to “roll” out of it !.

At the time my parents owned Egdon Service Station between Spetchley and Drakes Broughton, the place is still there, now known as Egdon 4x4.

Hello, Very sorry, missed this post. The H & F building in Shrub Hill is still there but I am not what it is used for now. Froude moved from there to a factory in Gregorys Bank (by the Worcester City Football Ground) probably in the mid 70's. Unfortunately the company went bump I guess 10 years ago (although I think 're-surfaced' as Froude Engineering).

Coincidently, I spoke to Egdon just this morning as my son as a Discovery and it seems that the electric have been possessed!! I used to know someone from the MG Club that worked at Egdon but he has moved on!
