    ITB pinto questions

So I’m wanting to do this to my pinto. My question to people do I need to use aeroquip style fittings due to the increased pressure in fuel system and also what fuel pump would people recommend? Bosch 044 I’ve seen but seems over the top for what I want as only mild tuned engine nothing fancy. And if anyone has photos of there swirl pot and pump set up in boot and of throttle bodies on a pinto could they post them up for me please.

    regards Jim

I fitted Jenveys and engine management to my RS2000 about 10 years ago. I used rubber hose and worm-drive clips for fuelling and it was fine. My full build thread is here…

Ok cool well that makes it a hell of a lot cheaper. Any links to a fuel pump. Prices seem to vary massively

i cant comment on quality but basic ones for vauxhall etc with barbed inlet / outlet should do you. you generally want one with bigger inlet - i had a capri one with 15mm inlet but getting short length of larger (low pressure ) hose was expensive - maybe 10mm in is large enough ?

Thanks for the link very helpful like what you did with coil pack too. Have you had any problems since fitting the throttle bodies ?

All was fine with throttle bodies. Car drove lovely, but did not quite have the engine mapping right. Apparently the second hand Omex ECU I had was obsolete even in 2010, and could not have been mapped any better. I could have upgraded to something more modern like the Omex 600 Series, but decided to go to twin IDF a few years later (just because carbs old skool cool!). If it were not a genuine RS2000, I would have kept the throttle bodies.

Ok thank you. What fuel pump did you use ? Was the trigger wheel hard to put on ?

Was a few years ago. Just cannot remember what pump it was. All my old pics show it wrapped in foam cushioning, so can't be sure. Trigger wheel was from Webcon and a simple bolt on fit. My engine was built by CTM, and they supplied and fitted it.

Ok thanks been looking at the web con ones. Can anyone else recommend a fur pump with barbed ends? Looks like inlet need to be larger than outlet is this correct ?

    Re: ITB pinto questions

Virtually anything from the Sytec range or lower end Bosch pumps would be suitable and affordable. As the inlets to HP pumps are gravity feed they must be larger diameter to avoid pump cavitation which = premature failure! Dash 8 hose should be treated as minimum (0.42" ID) Pump inlet hose should never be smaller than the pump inlet ie. if pump is 12mm, hose ID should match! And this includes the outlets from either tank or swirl pot.

Ok thanks. Swirl pot I’m looking at has a 13mm barb outlet so will 10 mm id pipe fit on that and then check pump I buy has the same.
