Stevieturbo I'm running Aeroflow -6 (can't remember series but it'll handle E85 as well) for high pressure side and -10 for suction with filters either side of pump (Bosch 044) drawing from a Group 4 tank. I've got the stainless overbraid but it's all nicely clipped and secured so abrasion can't happen easily. Do agree with poor ability to be inspected and I'll eventually replace with another type, possibly go back to push lock. I have heard it from a friend in the business that our V8 Supercar teams have gone away from stainless overbraid for exactly the reasons you describe...
Got a bit to get on with here and will post the details of the final solution for edification of all and to close the loop.
