    Cambelt and locking pin

Decided to do the cam belt on my ST170 so I bought a locking kit, typical eBay special... I now have a question, I have the engine in the right place to get the cam locking plate in position, I removed the plug and fitted the locking pin, (the Long one) what does this actually lock into as I can rock the crank to and fro quite a bit... to much for me to be happy its locking something. am I missing something?

Just done this today on a silvertop, and the crank web pushes against it, you can turn it anticlockwise with the pin in, but not clockwise.

correct it doesnt lock the crank as such, the crank rotates upto it and wont go any further, but will go backwards

    Cambelt and locking pin

As said it is a stop. Don’t use it to torque things against you may break the pin etc

I read somewhere you can bend a pin, thus making it rather difficult to get out. In other words, sump off job.
