Do people use zetec coil pack when converting pinto to injection ? If so what leads do people then use ?
anything which fits! typically HCS fiesta or efi cvh
Like this ?
Picture won’t post for some reason
pretty much any coil pack will work, as long as you can find suitable ht leads to fit
Be careful when buying parts like that which are very cheap.
One of the feedback that that seller got is:
"Cheap part car caught on fire cheap Chinese parts stay away"
and that was a Ford coil pack ...
I’ve been Looking at bhp Ford coil pack. They will hopefully be able to supply me with leads to fit ?
what leads you use will depend on where you mount the coil pack.
i prefer to mount on the bulk head not the engine, so you may need fairly long leads which are not a feature of most coil packs i would go with something like this

with these

you can remove the long black plastic bit which leaves you a nice long lead to play with
Ok Graham. Brilliant thank you.
search this guy out on ebay "mr-retro-plug-leads" he made my leads when i had a pinto running off a ford coil pack. Made to measure etc great service.
Tbh I tried that and it wasn’t as easy as I thought.😂

Should be straightforward. It's just some wire and a few crimps. HT leads are not black magic lol

Yea, but right angle crimps trying to go through straight or right angle rubber boots aren't as easy as you'd think. The ones I tried had really tight boots, tried the kettle or silicon spray but was still having none of it. Definitely, a knack to it that I couldn't master, not quickly anyway.
And the conductor in silicon leads are actually very brittle and break very easily.
I've done quite a few leads and never had any issues.
Silicone is purely an outer covering, there are various conductor offerings within that. I've done regular cheapie fibreglass types, spiral wound and simple straight conductor.
Ultimately the crimp doesnt need to be anything fancy to work electrically, the conducting core just needs securely crimped so it is in contact with the metal terminal. Strength of crimp matters more for people puling the leads off and on so it remains secure.
I'm more surprised that stringy fibreglass conductor actually works than anything else with leads lol.
Although easiest option is to get a set of long leads with at least one end the correct type you want, then you just need to cut/crimp the other end.. Some lead kits come with their own stripping and crimping tools, or you can buy specific tools.
Once you've the wire fed through the boot, just crimp the terminal on and pull it back through. I would not be trying to feed a pre-made crimp into the boot. A bit of WD40 or silicone lube and you can get the wire through the boot with a little effort.

After the above issues for £35 or so it cost me for a set of leads made it has probably one of the more value for money things i ever did on an escort. Especially after all the swearing trying to feed them dam leads through the caps etc.
I have now gone to duratec and the first thing i did was go COP. Much easier

Where it suits, COP is definitely the better option these days, much neater.

Be cut down.
