    Cool Chassis dimensions help required.

    I need some assistance fellas.

I'm reinventing my Mk1 Escort (was heavily customised) back to something like a standard rs2000 replica spec.

She's up on a rollover jig atm and I'm replacing the upper, lower bulkheads and dash panels all with new magnum panels.

I have a freshly rebored 2.0 pinto to go in and have yet to obtain a type 9 gearbox.

    Here's the questions/assistance I need....

1: What is the most Suitable oversize tunnel for the 5 speed boxing?

2: I need to add new gearbox mounting points to the chassis....but don't know where to put them I.e. dimensions. I could wait till I find a box and get my tape measure out, but as you know they aren't exactly in every local scrap yard & I'd like to get on with creating a tidy undercarriage while I try find one.

    All help is appreciated 

Best fitting gearbox tunnel is an automatic one and retroford do gearbox mounts that will go across it

But not needed if you fit a T9 with an RS2000 bellhousing - std tunnel is tight but needs no mods! Maybe if you are planning on motorsport use and taking the box out on a regular basis, the big tunnel helps but no other good reason!

Ummm, interesting...it would help with the box mounting points as I could just follow the std chassis drawing.....forgive my ignorance but what is a T9 from & is it a 5 speed?

T9 = Type 9, it is a 5 speed from Sierra era cars and P100 pick-up's and is based around the Type E 4 speed box fitted in the RS escorts and others - gearing is identical apart from overdrive 5th! You either retain the std. gearbox mounts on the tunnel and bracket back to take an adapted T9 mount or move them back and still have to fabricate a mount . . . . . either way fabrication is required.
