    Bilstein shocks ID wanted

    Hello All,
I have a set of rear Bilstein turret shocks for an Escort MK2 and wonder if anyone can tell me the bump/rebound rates. 4898 B46 0767HO

Rebound / bump = 230 / 108 . (see Burton Power website for info on other Bilsteins)

    thank you miniliteman!

I'm going to be using them for targa rallies....thinking the standard single leaf springs (1300 auto) would be too soft....but some rave about the softer springs . I see Gartrac do 120llb twin leaf spring for the MK1 Escort ...would that be a better bet....just space them out to 60mm
Front suspension will be adjustable struts 300/70 bilstein 12 inch 160 or 185llb springs. crossflow engine

Is the car turreted? Guess so otherwise you would not ask about these Bilsteins.
The 767 is way too stiff for a Mk2 for targa rallies.
Don't know what the rating of the 1300 auto leaf springs is but the 120 lb/in Gartrac items is as stiff for the spring as you want to go. 112 lb/in would be ideal.

Yes car will be turreted.....I will not use these....they were 'given' to me instead of a refund...so no loss.

Spax or AVo adjustable might suit targas better and if anyone has experience of using either of these with the standard single leaf springs (85llb?) or 112llb as Miniliteman has suggested let me know your thoughts.

I found out today from GS Escorts that the 115llb Capri single leaf springs are too long for an Escort ....that surprised me.

i dont see how, given that we used to fit escort springs to capri!

we defiantly used to fit GP1 escort springs to capri, they must of been softer than actual capri ones as it used to lower them

I sold a pair of single leaf Capri springs on here a good few years ago now. I had them fitted to my Mk1.

if they fitted the mk1 then they should fit the mk2 ...were they decambered.....confusing.....Alladin will hopefully spread more light on this when he gets a moment to measure his.

If they fitted a mk1 without mods, it would imply that they were 50mm / 2" wide. Mk2's usually take 60mm / 2 3/8" width springs.
Never heard talk that Capri springs are longer though, or longer enough not to be accommodated by the rear shackle?

That's exactly it, they may have been a bit longer but it was easily taken up by the rear spring shackle.

that makes sense...would have to be standard escort shackles and not the shorter ones......would decambering make them even longer?

with capri being heavier than an escort its more likely than old capri springs have just got flatter and thus longer.......

I bought them new, so they weren't longer or flatter due to sagging.
