MK2 Escort T5 gearbox Speedo cable
Hi everyone.
I’m wondering if there is something on the market that will allow me to change the direction of the Speedo drive on the box, the problem I have is it’s pretty close to the tunnel and once connected the cable is getting kinked, hence the Speedo jumps, if it were fastened straight there would be no problem, I’ve been using a GPS Speedo the last few years which is not ideal, any help would be greatly appreciated..

Re: MK2 Escort T5 gearbox Speedo cable
I have a speedo that works with a small magnet that can be attached on any rotating part; wheel, prop shaft etc. I think it’s called a Hall effect device. I won’t need a cable at all. However, I was considering using a GPS one instead. Why is the GPS type not ideal?

Hi, and thanks for your reply, it’s not that there not ideal I would rather have the original Speedo working that’s all, I’ll have a look into what you’ve mentioned

You can find right angle speedo drives.
https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/angle-...er-120694.html for example. However many (most, all?) of them also reverse the rotation.

I have also seen installations where a hole is drilled in the transmission tunnel to bring the speedo cable into the interior straight from the gearbox.
