Alternative oil fill point on Cosworth YB.

    Hi guys, a quick question.
    I have a YB N/A in my Escort Mk2.
THe cam cover is a bit tatty.
I have been offered a replacement but it doesnt have a filler point in the normal place. I think its for a dry sump.
So my question is can I run a filler pipe from the tapping on the L/H side of the block where the is currently a plug fitted and fit a sort of filler kneck and cap for oil filling instead?

    Any advice most welcome.

    Thanks Graham.
I think its 1/2 Inch BSP.
I was thinking of puting a sort of reservoir there a bit like a vw beetle, its only for topping up really.
I was just worried that it may be a pressurised part of the system

Does the Cossie rely on the filler cap to be vented for normal crankcase ventilation? This isn't an issue with a dry sump system as the oil tank is vented and crankcase will be under vacuum conditions but if sealed up tight you can expect gaskets and seals to blow out / start leaking - the air has to get out!

    Yep,
I thought of the venting issues.
I have a vent take-off under the carburettors which I was goung to run to a vent tank.
It will be 15mm inside diameter pipe.
Do you think thats enough crank case ventilation?
Im going to instal a sort of top-up oil tank too which I could also vent if needed.?

I don't think it vent through filler cap, as there is a gasket.

under admission, yes it will be ok to vent there, on mine that's what I used, and a pipe added at the rear part on rocker cover.
    Mine is a N/A engine.
