Can't imagine they'll be that common in the UK and probably getting scarce in SA! How / where is it cracked as a repair could be done - CI isn't the easiest to weld - lots of preheat, stainless or nickel filler rods and controlled cool down seems to work or silicon bronze brazing is another option!

hi i would throw a ordinary 3.0 Essex in but i had stainless steel headers made at a good cost and they are bigger & larger stud patterns so wont fit a std 3.0 head, difficult to see were its cracked its allowing oil straight into the cylinder head, doubt if welding a option especially such specialised operations .its catch 22 rare parts or new headers
i do have spare 3.0 heads but don't know if they fit or will work a s.a. block ,experts are short on the s.a engine unless in s.a.. cheers

im not expert, but i cant see the block being different, my understanding is to get 3.4 they offset ground the very large essex crank pins to use cologne v6 con rods.

when you say allowing oil into the head where is it going, into an inlet port or the cooling system? if its going into the inlet port your problem may be as simple as a failed intake manifold gasket

hi , there is no oil in the coolant, and when i did a block test there was no co2 showing . thus getting in via the head ?will see what i can see on the inlet manifold side . thanks
