    Hi Kal,
I don't think they were any different from model to model. There was a ford heavy duty flexible joint available, I've got one on my car that I bought from Burtons back in the day. The rubber I believe is thicker and more dense, making it stiffer and less flexible.
The "quick racks" where standard racks fitted with new pinion and rack manufactured by specialist companies, either DIY or supplied whole. One of those little one man band companies is still going strong and now makes the entire rack, no longer a one man band co. I
Steering column the same. I've several, one from an RS2000, another from a 13L and the last one I don't remember. Only difference is depending on age the type of lower fixing to the bulkhead where it passes through, either a single bolt tab or a 2 bolt arrangement, the single bolt tab is most common

2 bolt must be similar to a Mk1 then. I've only ever seen the single bolt tab on a Mk2.

The bottom of an Mk1 column passes through a separate metal bracket that contains a rubber bush then fixed through the bulkhead with 2 bolts top an bottom, I think some of them had captive nuts in the engine compartment/bulkhead.

The captive nuts on mine are long gone.

Absolutely right Rob, it's only very early mk2's with the 2 bolt ring, once they realised they could ditch that nice bit of engineering for an L shaped tab, one bolt and a grommet, it was gone. It's referenced as an option in the work shop manuals but I don't think any of my mk2 escorts had the 2 bolt fitting. It's probably only on the first batch when there was a surplus of mk1 bits left over.
