Hi, has anyone got any recommendations for a local engineering firm happy working on one off / small batch milling /turning from cad & samples ? Ideally one that answers the phone and dosen't take an absolute age to produce things?!
Thanks

Sorry can't help with recommendation but unfortunately one offs / prototyping is labour intensive in set up and machining time and whilst ideal for small companies / one man bands, they can't spare the time to answer the phone / emails whilst making enough money to stay afloat. If you do find someone, expect long lead times or that yours will get fitted in between long run jobs. I went the opposite way and bought a lathe, built a CNC mill and have a buzz box arc welder, a MIG and a ACDC TIG machine - i'm ok on most of them, not 'expert professional' but I only have to wait for material deliveries to make things - mind you its a chunk of change to be sitting around against the convenience aspect LOL!
Give mark a shout, he is a ford fan and does some nice work

Prox, exactly the kind of person I'm after, a shame he's a fair bit east of me but not so difficult to email cad/sketches/photos I guess
Ralph at https://www.componentengineering.co.uk/ is also a good shout, and has a lot of contacts for various stuff.
he's done stuff for me from simple machine work, to water jet, to CNC
