UK ULEZ expansion, have your say

    Hi
You may already be aware but there are only a few weeks left of the “consultation” period for expanding the Ultra Low Emissions Zone out to the M25 circling London in the UK

this will result in some of our cars (post 1981) being charged £12.50 per day to be driven

this will result in me putting all my cars on blocks and waiting until they meet historic status, one of which will be two decades !

    complete the survey and have your say ;

I do wonder how much impact it has to businesses, especially those outside of "core" London
For me its going to be a pain in the arse for things like getting to Burton Power - pain in the arse as in I won't be going there anymore as I'm not paying to drive to a business.

Worth noting its actually going to extend beyond the M25 in places e.g Near Ockendon towards West Horndon. As someone in Mid-Essex, I'm sure I'll be in the ULEZ by 2025 at this rate

I did question the 'out to the M25' headline and thought most of the M25 isn't in Greater London as i'm pretty sure most of the outlying boroughs never voted for the midget, Asian hitler!
I try to avoid driving in London full stop, this just makes it less likely i'll go anywhere near it other than by train! I'd love to know how much air pollution has decreased since the 'low emissions
zone was introduced compared to the revenue generated by it. I'm guessing hardly measurable and loads ! So I can't imagine the reasoning behind making it larger - can you? I read the propaganda
leaflet and love how those in their 'ivory towers' are offering a 'scrapage allowance' to the low paid to buy compliant vehicles without seeming to comprehend they are driving old cars because
that is all they can afford - giving someone on minimum wage £2k for a shitbox 150k miler as long as its spend on a compliant £15k vehicle makes so much sense - lets make a poor person
even poorer, not that they can afford petrol to drive anywhere anyway!

Its happening elsewhere isnt it, As motorists make up a large percentage of the population why do they let just a few make up these rules...

Yea the whole Ulez thing is just a farse to make poor people poorer and gain revenue for the failing TFL in the process.
It has nothing to do with actual Air Pollution. They managed to put a legal stop on the process when they tried it in Manchester recently.

I drive an Artic for my troubles and work for a Heathrow-based Airfreight firm, our lorries are already compliant. I added to my comment when I filled it out that I'm a key worker and that's the thanks I get for helping the country through the Pandemic is it! I also said are they going to charge the airlines every time a plane takes off or lands as they're inside the M25 too!

I live in Hillingdon, our local main town centre is Uxbridge. It's going to cut Uxbridge virtually in half. And no that bit is still a fair distance from the M25 too. I'm still not sure what to do about my daily drive which is an 03 Audi 2.5 tdi but it means if I keep it, it will cost me an extra 4 and a half grand a year to drive the bloody thing.

The other thing I may consider is just buying a shitbox 05-06 plate petrol car that's compliant, but I love the torque of my Audi, it goes reasonably well and still does 30mpg around town as well.

Out of interest I checked my current and previous mk2 escorts (which are registered as historic) and it seems they're not exempt from ULEZ! I've checked cars I used to own (mk2 cortinas and mk1 escort) and they are exempt! I thought all cars registered as historic were exempt? Have they changed the rules?

Quick update - having just checked here - https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/com...fore-you-start - I don't need to register my car, TFL claim they know it meets the requirements for ULEZ.

Glad to know that, but it'd be nice if the left hand knew what the right hand was doing!

This as we know has nothing, zip, feckall to do with emisions. Purely a money making exercise that will fleece the poor people.

    Yup, we all know that.

TFL say most people's vehicles are already compliant.

Of course, that is apart from the poorest of people who can't afford newer cars so we'll just rob them blind instead.
