Have any of you already installed this gearbox without changing the tunnel?

According to Quaife’s blurb the 60g is a direct replacement for a T9 but to me the dimensions look larger especially it’s depth which will result in the bottom of the gearbox casing hanging down under the Car. If you take a look on Motorsport Tools Website there are dimensions of the Gearbox.

I have no experience of fitting this gearbox into an Escort but back in the mid 90’s we fitted its Heavy duty brother and that did need the tunnel lifting up so the box didn’t hang down and drag on the Forest tracks.

You won't get the g60 it's too big , I got a t5 cosy box in standard tunnel used a bottle jack just to gently make clearance, iam sure elite do one that's based on a standard box

    Re: Quaife 60g

the 60G fit into standard tunnel, at least width if enough if you remove the genuine supports, I did it.
But I needed to raise up the tunnel at last part, around gear lever.
It's a pain to get the box out, honestly, that's why I fitted a large tunnel 2 years after....
It helps to remove box without unbolting the engine mounts and moving all down to be able to remove the gearbox.

Is it not feasible to fit an Auto tunnel?
Although maybe not be standard fitment in your car, unless it was an auto shell to begin with, it is at least a factory fitment item.

    I fitted many a 60g
Back of tunnell needs decent rise to get back of box up to correct height

indeed, it needs room around tail comparing to a rocket one
the top on the box stay high at the rear also, that's why cutting is needed

It’s either my poor eye sight or that Elite gearbox looks taller than the 60g from the centreline of the mainshaft. They are a nice gearbox all the same.
