Twin choke 32/36 DGV 5A (manual choke) top cover or whole carb

Hi, recently fitted a new 32/36 twin choke (manual) carb. I am experiencing problems in starting it from cold. I had it in at a garage and the said it needs the choke, drawing too much air. The choke mechanism was stupidly! completely removed (top cover section where it fits on cut) during install to fit an aftermarket air filter that clipped onto the carb body.

Does anyone have one or even the full carb with decent cover for manual choke. I have the cable.

The thing is, I remember trying the choke as it was fitted at initial install but didn't seem to make a lot of difference.
