MX5 NC 6 speed adding a electronic speedo drive

decided to put a mx5 6 speed in my 2.3 duratec escort as the cossie t5 is whineing abit

but after buying the box found that its speed sensor is just a blank and you need some hens teeth part to make it work
so seeing as i just bought a lathe i decided ill have a go at making the speed sensor gear wheel

the signal wheel mounts on the tail shaft using a 6mm bearing and circlip to keyway it in place
i will drill between the boss i made trial and error untill i get the right depth so the circlip locates

im planning to index 6 teeth on the gearboss but as i dont have a index wheel on my lathe and im very much a amature it will be out with the grinder to cut my teeth
in the "to size" boss ,the easy bit was the sensor its just a mazda 3 wire sensor the box already has a place for it to bolt

What does the box/car normally use for speed ?

What sort of signal do you need for whatever speedo is in the car ?
    9.85 @ 145mph 202mph standing mile

mx5 duratec nc normally take a speedo signal from the abs sensors
they did fit the gearbox speed sensor on none abs supplied cars
my car has a racetech programable speedo using a ford ka /fiesta speed sensor of the cable drive with a burton adapter in the cossie t5 box
so it just needs a 3 wire adapter to mazda sensor from the superseal i had fitted to the ka sensor
anyway the gearbox 6 tooth wheels done i balanced the mazda sensor ontop

Very clever, I'm looking at mounting an abs reluctor ring onto the gearbox end of the propshaft and using an abs sensor for speed signal

Would you be willing for cash to make one to suit a rx8 5 speed gearbox to mk2 rs2000 clocks?

Mk2 RS2000 clocks are mechanical so this would be pointless for you!
