    Mk1 escort 1300e project

For sale is my dads 1300e he's owned this car since 1982 it has 3 previous keepers and my dad is the 4th

    The story goes

When he brought it he had many enjoyable years from it before taking it off the road in 1990 to rebuild it he replaced

    Front kick panels
    Strut tops
    Strut turrets
    Front panel
    Slam panel
    Inner and out sills
    Back panel
    Rear arches replaced
Full respray and put back together for shows and back on the road in the end of 1991

The car then got stolen in 1993 and within 2 hours he was lucky and got he car back minus cibies and alloys the car was then used for a few months but never felt the same.

It was then parked up in the garage and forgotten about and over time the car had stuff put on it me and my brother had banged in to it and dents and scratches started to appear still with lack of interest it just stopped there.

Then in 1998/1999 my father started to sort it out taking it apart etc.

But then he went though a not very nice divorce which dragged on for several years in that time not much really got done

So know we get to know he thought about sorting it out last year and in the end felt he had to much emotional interest in it so went and brought another mk1 escort and now has decide to try and sell her

He has spent the last few days going around it and sorting bits out and this is a summery of the car

    Bad bits
Needs welding to chassis from swan neck forward
    Needs heater bubble welding/replaceing
    Needs wheel well replacing /repairing
    Needs tank well replacing/repairing
Front panel was removed to repair where the bumper brackets sit in place but needs finishing
Few other miner scabs etc nothing really detrimental
It does have sun roof but will come with another roof if not wanted.

    Good bits
    Sills solid
    Floor pans solid (still original)
    Strut tops solid
    Strut turrets solid
    Kick panels solid
    Door pillars solid
    Doors solid
    Good boot and bonnet
    Wings original ford solid

Car will come with most original parts but is a rolling shell project

The car is 2inch lowered all round and has 40% uprated front shocks
I'm lead to believe its an avo shell its campaign gold in colour again also told this is rare there is loads of paper work with this car old mots receipts etc etc

This car is a genuine article and would make a great project for someone to own abit of history.

    Now for the price £2500
Is what he's after he understands some people with think he's having a laugh and everyone is open to an opinion

Not really looking for Ono but will help with transport costs

Feel free to call him 07878075094 Joe

And how she looked back in the day

Please note there is no engine has when the car was rebuilt it was replaced for a upgraded xflow which has been used else where.

He also has photos of all the work that has been done to the car over the years

    Also comes with repair panels

And the car is located just off junction 2 m5 Oldbury

    free bump,

i am pretty sure these are the 'prototype' 1300e's (i guess that would be the correct term)

there was 1 near me (also said special campaign), these were available b4 the 1300e was released (E's wern't out until late 73)

so i suppose this is one of the rarest model of mk1 escort about.

    1300E sports
Based on the Mk1 Escort body shell, but with the 1300 Sport engine, the 1300E variant was launched in 1973.This model was very well equipped, external differences included rectangular headlamps and auxiliary lights, radial tyres, wider wheels with chunky chrome trims and extra side indicators. To bring the passenger and driver experience upmarket, the 1300E was fitted with deep pile carpets, extra sound insulation, a unique centre console, luxury carpets, GT pod instruments and a 3 spoke steering wheel. A wood trimmed dash and door panels finished off the interior.

Available in Metallic Purple and Metallic Amber the colours offered a bold statement. Introduced during March 1973 for £1182 the E was built using the Sport shell including the flared front wheel arches. Many models were actually built at the AVO (Advanced Vehicle Operations) plant in South Ockendon in Essex.

The front of the vehicles had the GT style rectangular headlamps plus two distinctive Lucas LK8 spot lamps. Side repeaters were fitted as standard just below the very distinctive black or white coach stripe's that ran down the length of the car. At both ends of the car Ford fitted full-length chrome bumpers complete with chrome over riders. Other items of chrome included the mirrors, window edging strips and sill covers.

The rear of the car had the usual Escort features but came with a pair of reversing lamps as standard. To help show this was no ordinary Escort Ford decided to not only put the 1300E badges on the front wings and rear of the car as with other Escort models but to also add the badges to each of the rear quarter sections to the roof. (which was often covered in a black vinyl).

Mechanically the 1300E shared the same 72bhp 1.3ltr cross-flow engine as the Sport and GT models, connected to a 4.125:1 close ratio gearbox meant that the 1300E could reach 0 - 60 in just over 13 seconds. The top speed was a claimed 93mph.
