    i doubt we ever will, without running on some exotic fuel,

    lets face it they couldnt do when hot rods ran x/flows with unlimited mods,

    at the end of the day an x/flow head can only flow so much air which pretty much caps the power ceiling, if your limited by airflow then to a certain extent you can compensate by revving to hell, but to make an engine work at 10,000+rpm you need a nice combustion chamber something an x/flow doesnt have, sure you can chamber them but that spoils the inlet port and introduces valve shrouding, so your back to hurting flow and thus lowering power possible

    Is that the AX block you had for sale recently?

    Nice engine, I would have thought an alloy head would be the best option, 180bhp from a xflow is very good

    I think 200bhp would be possible, as Graham said its all about the head flow, a downdraft alloy head and something similar to a 2.0 bdg bottom end would surely make it, just about, the biggest limitations I see after that are cam profiles, being flat follower pushrod, and the combustion chamber shape

    Re: Crossflow on Jenveys

    The worst thing with the cam profiles is the fact that you can't get enough meat on the cam to get a decent grind and profile as it wouldn't fit through the cam bearing bores, also with the current setup the followers are only just far enough into the bores to not fall out when at zero lift! Ideally the followers need to be over 10mm longer which would then also mean having shorter pushrods made.

    so a q came to my mind;
    are those higher lift rockers really worth the cost?

    well if you need more lift and cant get it from the cam then high lift rockers are the only possibility

    John Wilcox makes a 2200 cc crossflow, 200 BHP could be close to possible ?
