I have developed for one of my customers a 2280cc Ford YB engine Normaly aspirated
Crank, pistons and rods were made in our factory premisses (www.dpengineparts.com). It is a 84mm stroke with 136mm c/c rod and 93mm piston diameter
The engine is placed in a MK2 Escort sashi and my customer will be looking in Drag racing with it in 3 weeks in street category (Greek Dragster Championship)
The car was using before a Kent Cam profile (Final Mechanical stage - something like 11.7mm-313 degrees) and was producing 230whp which it is around 260BHP which was not enough for us
As a new upgrade for the race we did for him a higher lift/higher duration profile and we also port more the cylinder head (Sevdalis Superflow center made that for him - Greek engine developer)
The car is using the Race throttle bodie kit from Jenvey that we again have port it for bigger volume.
We are hopping this time to be able after all those mods to reach 245+whp which is a 280BHP engine
Of course we are using all the goodies we need for such an engine
I will show dyno graph and photo of the pistons and rods we have made for him while using the older cam profile producing 260BHP
The target is this 280BHP engine to make 1/4 in 12 sec having in mind that the sashi is not weight reduced (street car)
Here I would like to know everyones experience in similar sashi/engine combination
If the car does not show the results we are after to build a super stroke engine with something like 94-100mm stroke and 96 or even 97mm piston diameter
We know that the Genuine Ford Cylinder head is restrictive but I think we can get this engine above 300HP with the above engine capacilty 2.7-2.9lt.
On the block side we are thinking to use a top adaptor plate and sleeve it so we can get extra 20mm in length for both stroke and rod length.
of course crank will use smaller diameter rod bearings.
Maybe we would better make a billet aluminum block but we do not want to have huge costs involving in the project.
So again I would like any recommendations here.
We had a quick discussion on cylinder head swap with Millington but he was not very happy to supply us only the head so we never worked someting out.
Any suggestions?
Anyone that could help this project
Thanks very much
